Posting of forest maps in the region of Western Macedonia
It is expected that the forest maps will be posted by the Forest Directorates of Kastoria, Grevena and Florina, where it appears which areas were characterized as Forest or Grassland.
How do you know which areas were designated as forest or grassland?
Everyone should be interested in seeing for themselves if their property has been classified as forest, because no individual notices are sent. You can see this on the website of the Land Registry or go to an organized office, because they will need coordinates to locate the property on the Forest map.
What if no objection is lodged?
If he finds that it is characterized as a forest area, he will have to submit his objections, ie to make an objection. Failure to do so will result in Public Land, even if it has title deeds.
Is it easy to gather evidence for the objection?
In order to submit the objection (objection) he will have to gather some supporting documents, to overturn the Forest character or even to submit a topographic one for the change of the shape. In other words, it must prove that it is not a forest. In order to prove this, however, one must turn to a specialist, such as Agr. Surveyors Engineers to do photo interpretation, because this is the key element with which one can prove that it is not a forest. The Photo Interpretation examines old and modern aerial photographs showing the evolution over time.
What will happen if you do not gather the supporting documents in time?
If one does not do the above in time, one loses the opportunity to file an appeal later and will have to go to court, which is a time-consuming and costly process with a questionable result. So, if he submits his objections within the foreseen dates, it will be easier to overturn the Forest character and at a lower cost, while later he will not have any problem in posting the Land Registry.
Here we must emphasize that if he addresses an expert mentioned before, he will be able to represent him in the committees that will examine the objections and will present the appropriate arguments on his behalf. Besides, there must be the necessary experience from the Land Registry for the reason that Forest maps and Land Registry are interrelated.
